Pat Robertson leg press and Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell

Pat Robertson leg press
Pat Robertson, the 76 year old host of the christian show “The 700 club”, claims to have leg pressed 2,000 pounds.  The feat was said to have been accomplished three years ago when he was 73 years of age.  The claim has brought some huge criticism and with good reason.  I am pretty heavily involved in bodybuilding.  I’m a huge fan of Ronnie Coleman (eight time Mr. Olympia), who has made several training videos of his preparation for various contests.  Some of the feats include squatting 800 pounds and also deadlifting 800 pounds, as well as a 2,200+ pound leg press.  I know Ronnie could have done more than this but he is a 300+ pound professional bodybuilder, they had already used every 100 and 45 pound plate in the gym, and those sleds (leg press machines) aren’t really designed to hold that much weight.

There was a long discussion this morning about homosexuals in the military. Two gay men went to their local national guard recruiters office to protest the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy. Rover said he thought the national guard should have sent them over to Iraq. Instead they gave them a podium and let the media have a field day.

There were several callers with differing opinions. One being a gay soldier who has been serving our country for about 15 years. I have a very deep respect for anyone putting their life on the line for our country but at the same time can definitely see why the policy is in place. It is for the safety of both the gay person and everyone else, it is not a discriminatory policy.

Anderson Cooper is also going to be on the show today. Rover bet Dieter $20 he won’t ask him about his sexual preference. That should make for an interesting interview.
