Confirmed: Rover C-Blocked Dieter, Stephanie Lagrossa and Crop Circles

Filed under: The Show — Justin @ 3:14 pm

Yesterday, Dieter and Duji went down to talk to Indy car driver Danica Patrick. Danica was on the show like two years ago and had shown interest in Dieter. Dieter asked her out and she said she couldn’t go because of a race the next day. Instead of immediately asking her out for the following night, Dieter paused because he already had a date planned with a stripper. Rover contends it was an awkward silence and he called Danica over to him, which Dieter contends was a cock-block. This argument has been discussed several times since the incident with no resolution.

Dieter and Duji went down and recorded their conversation with Danica yesterday. Everyone else there asked her about racing and about switching teams, Nascar, etc. Dieter and Duji immediately asked Danica if she remembered them, which she did. Dieter then went into the story about what had happened and asked if she recalled that, which she did as well. She ended up saying Rover had C-Blocked Dieter and signed an autograph for Dieter with the inscription, “only if”.

Stephanie LaGrossa
Stephanie Lagrossa from Survivor was on the show this morning. Stephanie just got married and only returned from her honeymoon on Sunday. Rover was disappointed, saying he thought she was the most attractive Survivor contestant ever. Stephanie married a school teacher and she is currently working on promoting hair products. Rover asked her if there was anything behind the scenes in Survivor they didn’t show. She said they do take them by bus or boat to the challenge areas and also to the nightly councils.

A discussion of crop circles came up this morning after 4 teens in Akron, OH confessed yesterday to making crop circles there. Story. This story really got Dieter going. He is of course intrigued by about every single conspriacy theory in the world. He said aliens use crop circles to pick spots for mating. Rover asked why they would use crop circles and not some other form of communication if they had such advanced technology. Dieter said you can tell a man-made crop circle from an alien made one because the crops are not broken by the aliens. A caller said a wide enough board will have the same effect. Dieter then began to tell a crazy story about some great stampede that is going to end the earth as we know it. I had no idea what he was talking about and had never heard about the stampede.

Cortney’s Tattoo, Dieter’s Pickup Technique and Starchild Abraham Cherrix

Filed under: The Show — Justin @ 6:37 pm

Cortney's TattooJonathon said Cortney got a new tattoo this morning. Symbolic of their relationship, it is a knife with both their names. Rover got Cortney on the phone and asked her about it. Lots of callers said they think Cortney is going to go crazy and kill Jonathon. Someone called in and said Cortney’s husband (who she is seperated from) is going to kill Jonathon when they visit Detroit for the Miss Morning Glory Calendar search party.

Dieter gave away another one of his golden pickup techniques today. He said he got the idea for this from the British Journal of Medicine (I would love to see which article this was). He said the idea is to be drinking a bottled beer. You then sit the beer on the table/bar in front of the girl you are talking to. While they are conversing, Dieter first sticks his pinkie finger into the opening of the bottle and slides it in and out. He then goes for the ring finger after a few minutes and gradually speeds up the motion. This is the most ridiculous idea I have ever heard of, Rover thought it was hilarious. Several female callers said that it is creepy. I honestly don’t know where he comes up with this stuff.

Starchild Abraham Cherrix, a 16 year old in Virginia, has cancer. Both he and his parents do not want him to receive chemotherapy. The Department of Social Services in the county they reside, took the family to court over the matter, claiming that they were endangering the boy. Initially, a juvenile court judge sided with the Department of Social Services. That ruling was just overturned by a County Circuit court judge however. The judge also returned full custody of the child to the parents (who were ordered to share custody with Social Services). The boy and his family want to use alternative treatments.

Rover thought the family had the right to do whatever they wanted, while Duji thought he should be forced to undergo the chemo treatment regardless of what the family thought. There were a lot of calls on this issue and I’m sure it will only receive more media attention as they continue to battle in the court systems. A lot of callers expressed concerns that Abraham is not old enough to make an informed decision, which may be true but this is a family decision. I hope they make the right one.

Rochester Calendar Search Party Recap, Security at NFL Games and Ozzie Smith

Filed under: The Show — Justin @ 3:49 pm

The crew had quite a time at the Rochester Calendar Search Party over the weekend. No one knew how DJ Jazzy Jim had gotten home, because no one had been able to reach him on Sunday morning when they were to leave Rochester. Jim was supposed to get up at 6:15 so he could make his 8:00 bus to Buffalo, NY where he was flying out of. Jim set up an alarm on his cell phone and also a wake up call through the hotel. He did not wake up to either and the hotel eventually sent a bus boy or someone up to his room at 7:40. Jim then missed his bus and in turn missed his flight but was able to make it back to Chicago.

DJ Jazzy Jim also apparently caused some troulbe on Saturday night. When they left the bar, Rover bought a $60 case of beer, they then went back to the program director’s house. Jim began to show off his “karate” moves and broke some stuff in the guys house. Jim also rode to the guy’s house in someone’s trunk when there was room to ride inside the car. Duji, who never goes out and parties, did find someone’s wallet and called Blockbuster to get it returned to them. What a good samaritan.

The Chicago Bears are stepping up security at their games this season. They will be patting everyone down this season as they enter Soldier Field. The Park District of Chicago is suing the Bears over this move, saying that it violates personal privacy laws. With all the terror alerts and crazy fans, Rover thought that this is a good move on the part of the Bears. Duji and Dieter did not agree. It is definitely a hassle to pat-down every single fan, when there are thousands of people waiting in line. On the other hand, it only takes one crazy person to kill thousands of people. There was a lot of mixed feedback on this issue and it will be interesting to see what happens in the courts.

Ozzie Smith: Road to CooperstownBaseball Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith was on Rover’s Morning Glory this morning. Ozzie is in town promoting the DHL: Hometown Heroes program. The program is set up to recognize the most outstanding player from each MLB franchise. Ozzie is of course hoping to win in St. Louis. Ozzie got to take a look and was pretty impressed by last years Miss Morning Glory Calendar. Ozzie is no longer married (he quit baseball and got divorced in the same year). Rover tried to ask Ozzie questions on several controversial topics such as Ozzie Guillen, Pete Rose and fighting. Ozzie avoided direct answers for all three. He did sign a baseball for Rover’s personal collection though.

From Rochester: Dustin Diamond returns and more Gay Games

Filed under: The Show — Justin @ 3:37 pm

Saved by the Bell - Seasons 1 & 2
Dustin Diamond came back on the show this morning. He was on a couple months ago and after telling the crew about all the money and investments he had, he began to sell T-shirts or D-shirts as he calls them, to keep from losing his house. Rover had been wanting to ask him about this, so they finally got him back on this morning. Dustin said that although he does have a lot of investments, he did not want to liquidate them to pay for the house. He needed to come up with 250K in 30 days, so that is quite a bit of money to come up with that quickly. He also said he tried to get a loan to cover the amount but things fell through with that as well.

Dustin is performing in Rochester this weekend. He was actually on the phone at the airport and had to cut the call short to board his plane. He told Rover that his shows always sell out and that he get a standing ovation every show. Rover said he is going to attend the show this weekend to see if this is true or not.

Katie, a heterosexual Gay Games contestant, was on the show this morning. She said about 5% of all Gay Games contestants are straight, which really doesn’t make too much sense to me. It was really a pretty bad interview and Rover had a mini meltdown afterwards. He said Drewpolian and Dan F. are making him air a bunch of stuff for the Gay Games but he said this would be the last segment he does on it even if they last for another month. Fortunately, I think they are over this weekend, so Dieter can avoid another run in with Lennox.

Dieter plays King Kong

Filed under: Dare Dieter — Justin @ 3:31 pm

To keep with the theme of taking a suggestion from a listener in each city they visit, Rover took a suggetion from a Rochester man this morning. He said a couple years ago he and his brother were flying a toy helicopter and he accidently ran it into his brother’s face. This resulted in his brother losing his eye.

He dared Dieter to get up on a ladder and have toy helicopters and airplanes flown at him and try to knock him off the ladder, similar to the Empire State Building scene in King Kong. One of the station guys from Rochester brought in a helicopter and airplane. Both sounded pretty loud and dangerous and Rover said the blade on the thing was two feet long.

Dieter got up on the ladder. There were several missed attempts as no one was really very good at flying these things. They finally decided to sit them pretty much directly in front of him and ram him. The airplane hit Dieter in the leg and broke the propeller. It must have not been a very hard impact because Dieter was not complaining very much. They then took the helicopter and rammed it directly into his side. The helicopter operator did not ease up on the throttle after impact and Dieter and the helicopter both went tumbling to the ground. Dieter said his side was pretty torn up and that if the guy didn’t work for the radio station he would have hit him in the face. Dieter kept saying, “you don’t do that to a grown man”. I’m not sure what the hell he was talking about as this was the whole premise of the dare.
