Huggie’s Marriage, Rabbi Goldstein and Barry Shabaka Henley
Huggie, the Chicago board-op, is always hard up for money. He kissed a gay man for $50 and put One Eyed Bri’s glass eye in his mouth for $40. Duji mentioned that he should donate sperm to make extra money. Rover did the math and he could make an extra $800/month donating sperm. He ran the idea past his wife and she was not happy with the idea. Instead of worrying about him having to degrade himself to make them extra money, she is worried about the illegitimate children that may result. Huggie went into his whole marriage history. He met his wife at a Jewish church function in high school. They dated all through high school and college and got married right after they graduated college. They have been married for five years. Huggie said it has been so long since they’ve had sex, he can not remember the last time. The crew pretty much all told Huggie that his marriage is only going to last as long as his wife wants it to.
Rabbi Niles Elliot Goldstein was on the show this morning. Rabbi Goldstein, the founding rabbi of The New Shul in New York City’s Greenwich Village, talked quite a bit this morning about both the recent incident with Mel Gibson and also the state of Judaism as a whole. T.J., the sports guy, who is also Jewish, talked a lot with the rabbi about the anti-semitics. Rabbi Goldstein said he does think Mel Gibson is anti-semitic but is not concerned with him. He said he is a lot more concerned about how the Jewish community is not more pro-active and how they just react to everything that happens, just like the current Mel Gibson situation. The rabbi has just written a new book, “Gonzo Judaism”, which is inspired by the writings of Hunter S. Thompson. Should make for an interesting read.
Barry Shabaka Henley, who plays Lt. Martin Castillo in the new Miami Vice movie, was also on the show this morning. Henley has been in lots of movies and on several television shows, including playing a jazz club owner, Daniel, who is killed by Tom Cruise in the movie Collateral. Rover asked Henley about his Miami Vice co-star Colin Farrell, who supposed checked into rehab the day after they finished filming on the movie. Henley said he never saw Farrell drinking or using drugs but that he imagined that the stress of the shoot and also the very dangerous stunts Farrell was doing could cause someone to use drugs or alcohol. Miami Vice opened as the number one movie last weekend, so I’m sure Henley and the rest of the cast are in good spirits right now.
